The Internet of things (IoT) is a system with the capability to transfer data over a network without demanding any human-to human or human-to-computer interaction. The intertwined processes of computing devices, mechanical and digital machines are also equipped with unique identifiers (UIDs).
During the years the IoT units’ installations have increased exponentially in all categories from Automotive (96.0 in 2013 to 3,511.1 in 2020), Consumer (1,842.1 in 2013 to 13,172.5 in 2020), Generic Business (395.2 in 2013 to 5,158.6 in 2020), Vertical Business (698.7 in 2013 to 3,164.4 in 2020). All for a grand total increase from 3,032.0 in 2013 to 25,006.6 in 2020.
