On-premises software is installed rather than at a remote facility such as Cloud, on the premises of the person or business adopting the software.
Cloud offers additional customisation, back up controls and upgrades. A Cloud- based server is hosted through Cloud computing and it is effectively a virtual server. It gives an extensive level of flexibility for how to choose and access your data.
In an on-premises environment, resources are deployed in-house and within an enterprise’s IT infrastructure. They can retain all their data and are fully in control of what happens to it, for better or worse. Companies that have extra sensitive information, such as the government and banking industries, could require an extra level of security and privacy that an on-premises environment provides.
